Japan is one of the fashion and beauty powerhouses of Asia. If you want to be unique and free to wear whatever you like without being judged by other people, the big cities in this country is where you might want to live in. In Japanese culture have I learned that being weird doesn't necessarily equate to having bad taste. In fact, weirdness is celebrated in this culture; such is the case of Igari makeup. What is igari, you say?

Simply put, Igari makeup is "hang over" makeup. It was popularized by artist Shinobu Igari, hence the name. It is supposed to mimic the look of someone who just woke up and is still a bit drunk. It may also mimic the look of someone who is sick. While the look itself does not look that weird, it is the reasoning behind it that makes it like so.
This look - characterized with coral pink highly-placed blush (directly below the eyes), a clear complexion, and natural eye makeup - is supposed to give girls an innocent look. Apparently, this seems appealing to men.

While I'm not in love with the look for that reason, I do find this trend to be super cute. I have always been fond of flushed cheeks so I am quite drawn to this trend. I just don't understand why it never caught up globally. Why isn't Igari makeup as big as contouring?
Anyway, today I decided to recreate this look, and here are the results:

| Sorry for my messy hair, I was trying to look as if I just woke up, ha ha. First, I focused on perfecting the skin by evening it out and concealing blemishes. I used a lighter base than my skin tone because Japanese women have really fair skin. |

| I used my pinky finger to apply eye brow powder because this makeup trend doesn't require the characteristic of structured brows. I also used my fingers to apply eye color - the blush was used as an overall eyeshadow color then a golden shimmery eyeshadow was applied all over the lower lid and on the aegyosal (eyebags). So easy, right? I decided not to put eyeliner and mascara because I want my eyes to look as sleepy as possible. |

| I decided to put some faux freckles using the Etude House Play 101 Pencil though you can definitely skip this step. |

| Most of the pictures that I saw were girls sporting velvety lips. Since I didn't have a lipstick with that finish, I just decided to use a lip tint and set it with some transluscent powder. |
